David Doughie’s is a local Austin bagelry, serving fresh New Yorkish bagels made with locally grown, organic, heirloom grains. Its founders, Chef Devin Broder, formerly of Odd Duck, and his wife Ashley, began their bagel journey as a passion project during the pandemic in an effort to enjoy their favorite morning meal; the New York bagel.⁠ David Doughie’s strives to provide unique products that pay tribute to their roots, while celebrating their Austin community. The heirloom grains from Barton Springs Mill add a unique flavor, yielding a one-of-a-kind product. The bagel process begins with bringing together a dough with top quality ingredients, hand rolling them, and then aging for two days to give a deep fermented flavor. They are then, boiled and baked in a true New York fashion, which results in a crispy exterior and dense, yet soft and chewy, interior.⁠ They offer a variety of bagels by the dozen, house made schmears, and other fun things while supplies last.⁠
